So you are thinking about making the jump to your first 64-bit operating
system and you aren't sure about your usual 32-bit programs. Microsoft
has made it simple to run 32-bit programs with their various 64-bit
Windows 7 operating systems. As a matter of fact, you will probably not
even know that you are running a 64-bit operating system other than the
fact that you are able to use more RAM and run 64-bit programs as well.
Instructions
1. Insert the installation medium into your computer.
2. Run the install program. Windows 7 will automatically store your 32-bit
programs into a special folder called "Program Files(x86)." All 64-bit
programs will install under "Program Files."
3. Double-click the 32-bit program icon or select the program through the "Start" menu to run.
Tips & Warnings
32-bit drivers and certain programs such as anti-virus software will not
run on a 64-bit system. For these packages you will need the 64-bit
program.
